Our little bug started getting sick on Friday, he was lethargic and had a low fever. This continued on Saturday but he was still doing kid things, so we went about our day. On Sunday at 4 AM
Coly woke up with a fever at 105.9, so I threw him in the tub and gave him Motrin. It came down to 103.4 so back to bed til the
Kidscare opened up. So, we took
Coly to
Kidscare and since he didn't have any other symptoms they did some tests, first was an X-Ray which they tied his hands above his head and put him in a tube, not fun. Next, they did a strep test again not fun, after they came back negative they had to
cath him to get a urine sample this was horrible. How do you tell a little boy why they need to do this? Well, this came back negative too, so they sent us home with a diagnosis of a viral infection. The day went along and we noticed that Colin had not peed since they had
cathed him, so we tried to get him to drink more and pee, with no success, we ended up going to Primary Children's Hospital ER. This is were it went to a very bad day, they poked and prodded and the little boy had so many tests and procedures. After, 2 rounds of fluids and 14.5 hours post his
catheterization he peed and we were able to go home again with the diagnosis of viral infection and dehydration. It broke my heart though when he was crying and said "Mom, scared." I asked him if he was scared and he said yes, his made me cry and ache for my little boy. Unfortunately, Monday was not a good day either, he again only had one other wet diaper all day so back up to
PCMC ER for more poking and prodding. 2 more rounds of fluids and again the diagnosis of viral infection. So, after another visit to his doctor today, fortunately no poking or prodding, Dr. Fox thinks that he is on the mend and is no longer dehydrated. Thank goodness, and I am so grateful to live in a day in age that our little ones can get help with good care.
