Donut Falls

Brian had today and tomorrow off of work, but tomorrow he is playing golf so we decided we needed to sneak another family day in. Bri really wanted to go hiking so we headed up Big Cottonwood to Donut Falls. Those of you that are familiar with this hike know that it is an easy hike, so we felt it was one that Colin could do without much help. It turned out to be a great day for a hike as there was cloud cover and the temperature was a little cooler than it has been lately. We enjoyed the hike as lots of trees lined the path and created shade over the trail. Coly has mountain goat blood, he hike without a problem until we had to cross the river. Then we only had to carry him 4-5 steps, he was able to walk on the logs even. Lynnie enjoyed sitting in the back pack giving her dad loves and playing with him. Over all the hike lasted about 2 hours total time, because we let the kids throw rocks into the river and have a little snack. We are hoping to get at least one more hike in before the weather turns too cold. But next year, we are already planning to take Carter and our 2 back up to Donut Falls.

Mini Golf

Last night, the kids went over to Grandma Debby and Grandpa Steve's for their first sleepover there. They were gone until about 1 pm this afternoon and boy oh boy did they have grandparent burn out. The kids came home and ate, then took a long nap. Bri decided while the rest of us were sleeping that we needed to get out and have a family activity. I talked Bri out of going on a hike as it looked like we would be caught in a storm, and into Mini Golf at Mulligan's.
After we all got our putters and balls, we headed out and the kiddos were excited. Coly was trying very hard a first to really hit the ball and get it into the cup, however by the end he would hit the ball and then pick it up and take it to the cup where then he would try to hit it in.Lou, on the other hand was all about keeping the greens clean. As soon as we would hit the ball she was out chasing it, and picking it up. She would bring it back or trade us balls, it really was cute at first then we learned to step on the ball so she couldn't get it. Colin has told us that we need to go golfing again so I think he must have his father's blood. :)

Golf Lessons

Tonight, Coly kept telling Bri, that he needed to hit some balls outside. So, we went down to our little courtyard and the golf began. I watched as Bri tried to teach Coly how to hold the club and hit the ball, but it was in vain, as Coly hits much better as a lefty then a righty. Lou being a little young for structured lessons, was just so happy to chase the ball and carry a club in her hands. It was so fun watching the kids play the sport their daddy loves so much.

Hat Kids

My kids love hats, they always want to wear a hat, especially if Mom or Dad is wearing a hat. I think that they look so cute, so I just wanted to post a few of them in hats.

Carter's 2

Today, Carter turned 2. WOW! How quickly time is going these days. It doesn't seem like too long ago when we were meeting his bio-mom Nakeita. She was gracious and loving, we feel fortunate that she chose Lindsey and Dustin to be the mom and dad to our cute little man.
So, yesterday, was the birthday party. It was a water themed party with a water slide and pools, and LOADS of water balloons. I think that the kids had fun, I had a good time hiding under a tree talking with my folks and aunt & uncle. Anyway, I just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARTER MAN! We love you!!!

Pedal Away Parkinson's

Brian's grandma was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease before I was a part of the family which is 9 years. She has had some set backs and she has tremors but for the most part she gets along just fine.

My cousin Kristen's husband, Ryan, his mom was diagnosis with Parkinson's about 10 years, ago. His family 5 years ago decided that they wanted to help the research being done on Parkinson's and started a family fun ride. So, Bri yesterday rode his bike on the 10 mile ride, in his Grandma Shirley's name. The event was well organized and it was really a fun event. They had vendors there so, you could buy fun things, raffle tickets, and a silent auction. All of these things helped raise money for the Utah Chapter of the APDA. Bri did very well and came in very early in the ride, but I was not there at the finish line to capture the moment. However, I did get some before and after shots.

23rd of July

Every year in Bountiful, they have a parade and fireworks display on the 23rd of July. My Uncle and Aunt, live right by the school where they shoot off the fireworks. Uncle Larry and Aunt Julia have a family party up at their home, and then we have first row seats to the fireworks. It really is a good time, as we eat, laugh and enjoy one anothers company. The kids got creative, since Uncle Larry has a huge hill they were scooting down it and then got the paper plates out. You have heard of ice blocking, right? Well, how about paper plating. Coly was so cute, instead of leaning back he would lay down and slide, I laughed so hard while he went up and down the hill. Then the fireworks were amazing, they shot off fireworks like we had never seen before. Unfortunately, Coly was nervous and did not watch, but Audra seemed to watch them at her age. We had a blast, thanks Uncle Larry and Aunt Julz.
