Out of the Mouths of Babes

The kids have been talking about another baby for some time.  Even before they knew I was preggers.  One day we were driving home and the following conversation occurred:

Audra: Mom, when you have another baby you will have 3 kids.

Me: You're right I will have 3 kids.

Audra: Dad will say "I can't handle this."

With that I laughed a good laugh.

Last week, the kids were playing outside in our yard.  Colin, came running into the house and straight into the bathroom.  He was in such a hurry he didn't shut the door.  After he finished peeing, he said in a disappointed tone "that was short."

Again I laughed hard.  Really where do these kids come up with this stuff?

Some Very Exciting News

I have been promising to update you all on the things that have been going on in the Hansen world.  So, here is the first one:

That is right, we are expecting our 3 child.  I am now 12 weeks pregnant and everything is looking good.  We found out that I was preggers on Jan 20, just in time for my birthday.  (I told Brian previously that was what I wanted.)  I have been very sick and tired with this one.  But very glad for this, as the baby is measuring right were it needs to be and the heart rate as of March 5, was 164.  PERFECT!!!
The kids did not know that I was preggers.  They have been wanting another baby for some time.  A couple weeks before my appointment Colin told me "You need to go to the doctor, to get the germs out."  So the day of the appointment we told the kids we were going to the doctor to get the germs out.  While the doctor was examining me, I told her that the kids didn't know.  She then ran the ultrasound and told the kids, it's not germs making your mom sick, it is a baby.  The kids screamed, danced and chanted "We're going to have a baby."  They were so excited.
Colin came home and drew "a very special picture."  That is what is being used to tell people we are expecting.  Since, I am still struggling a little with sickness and fatigue things have taken a back burner.  But I am feeling better and more things are getting done. So hopefully, I will be able to tell you what else has been going on in our world soon.
My due date is 9.23.13.  We are very excited and have started down the road of names, which at this point is not going well.  But we have 6 more months.  Lynnie has informed us that we should name the baby Stella or Mitchie depending on the gender.  We have also decided to have a surprise baby and not peek this go.  So tune back in September for the details of boy or girl.

A Driving Adventure

Yesterday, was Brian's 34th birthday.  We went to Neeners and Grandpa's for dinner.  After Brian had a Ragnar meeting.  Since, daylight saving had also occurred on this day, it was still light out after dinner.  Grandpa Garry, Neeners and I took the Jeeps outside and the kids got to ride them for the first time.  WOW!  What an experience.  Colin would do pretty good for a while, but then steer off the side walk.   Lynnie on the other hand was constantly going off the side walk.  MAN, OH, MAN!  She was literally moving her hands back and forth to steer.  Towards the end she said "I not very good at drivin'." The kiddos had a great time and are hoping to get out this week for some more drive time.

My Daughter

I love my son to death, he is a good boy and my miracle baby.  He brings me so much joy.  I don't know what I would do without him in my life.  But there is something about my sweet little Lynnie Lou.  She is so much like me in so many ways.  In even more ways she is like my little sister Jocelyn.
I love musicals, classics and such. Well, Lou has this same passion.  She loves the movie Annie.  I downloaded some of the songs from the movie.  Lynnie will ask me to please put on the Annie song.  She loves to sing these songs.  She is always so happy.  It just makes me smile.  I have fallen in love with Les Miserables.  I had never seen it before the new movie came out.  I have now seen it twice and I love the music.  I have downloaded the music from the movie too.  Well, Audra Lynn will sing the songs with me and loves it just as much.  Even when the boys complain about the music Lynnie doesn't.
Some things about her that remind me of J.  Jocelyn has fine hair, so does Lou.  Jocelyn had ears that stuck out a little, my sweet little girl does too.  Jocelyn could empty a water heater taking shower, well my 3 year old could too if I let her.  Lindsey has even stated howmuch Lynnie reminds her of J.  Amazing how genetics work.  Take a look at these two photos:

She is my little sweetheart and I am so grateful that she is mine.

The Naughty List

A few nights ago, we had just finished dinner when the following conversation occurred:

Colin: Mom, do you know that adults can get on the naughty list too.

Me: Oh really.  Why?

Colin: Because they are not nice to kids.

Me:  So, who is on the naughty list?

Colin:  You, because you are not being nice.

Me: Why, am I not nice?

Colin:  Because you won't give us a snack.

Me: Well, you didn't eat all of your dinner.

Colin:  You are on the naughty list mom.  (tears in his eyes)

So, there you have it folks.  I am a mean mom on the naughty list because I would not let them have a snack after not eating all of their dinner.  Funny kids.

PS - They got a snack.

Resolution

I don't shop at Costco often, but probably once every month, maybe even every other month.  But the other day, my hubby needed Nacho cheese (the fake gross kind, in a can) for a birthday party at work.  So, I went to Costco and made my purchase.  As, I am leaving waiting for the person to check my receipt, Colin asks for the receipt.  I handed it to him, so he could hand it to the door check out person.  Both kids love this part of the process because sometimes the person will draw a smiley face on the receipt for the kids.  That day the guy did and it pleased the kids so much.  I just thought "I need to be more like my kids and enjoy the very small happy things in life."  So, my resolution for the year is a simple one, but maybe more difficult to measure.  Enjoy the small happy moments!
