Coly's Bad Days

Our little bug started getting sick on Friday, he was lethargic and had a low fever. This continued on Saturday but he was still doing kid things, so we went about our day. On Sunday at 4 AM Coly woke up with a fever at 105.9, so I threw him in the tub and gave him Motrin. It came down to 103.4 so back to bed til the Kidscare opened up. So, we took Coly to Kidscare and since he didn't have any other symptoms they did some tests, first was an X-Ray which they tied his hands above his head and put him in a tube, not fun. Next, they did a strep test again not fun, after they came back negative they had to cath him to get a urine sample this was horrible. How do you tell a little boy why they need to do this? Well, this came back negative too, so they sent us home with a diagnosis of a viral infection. The day went along and we noticed that Colin had not peed since they had cathed him, so we tried to get him to drink more and pee, with no success, we ended up going to Primary Children's Hospital ER. This is were it went to a very bad day, they poked and prodded and the little boy had so many tests and procedures. After, 2 rounds of fluids and 14.5 hours post his catheterization he peed and we were able to go home again with the diagnosis of viral infection and dehydration. It broke my heart though when he was crying and said "Mom, scared." I asked him if he was scared and he said yes, his made me cry and ache for my little boy. Unfortunately, Monday was not a good day either, he again only had one other wet diaper all day so back up to PCMC ER for more poking and prodding. 2 more rounds of fluids and again the diagnosis of viral infection. So, after another visit to his doctor today, fortunately no poking or prodding, Dr. Fox thinks that he is on the mend and is no longer dehydrated. Thank goodness, and I am so grateful to live in a day in age that our little ones can get help with good care.

Christmas in September

Since, we have moved into our new house, Brian's mom has asked us to think about what we want for Christmas for our new house. We have thought about dining room chairs, bedside tables, and other things. Yesterday, Bri's mom called and asked what color we would want for a headboard in our bedroom and Brian told her probably a brown color, she told him that she was on her way to RC Willey's and would look at some for us. A little while later Brian got a picture of a nice headboard on his phone and talked to his mom. Well, it turns out that she ended up buying it for us for our Christmas present, I was excited but then it gets better. It turns out that the bed is actually a Sleigh bed. WHAT?!?!?!?! I have always wanted a sleigh bed, and we get to have it right away, YES!!!! So, last night I went to Relief Society General Conference, Brian and Colin went to pick the bed and put it together. SO, here is our beautiful new Sleigh Bed. We want to send a special thank you to Mom and Steve for our awesome new bed.

Thanksgiving Point Dinosaurs

Saturday, we took the kids down to Thanksgiving Point to the Dinosaur Museum. Papa and Nana, and Lindsey and Carter went with us as well. It was so much fun and the kids had a blast. They got to dig in the sand and water, run through caves, and brush for dinosaur bones. Not to mention seeing all the dinosaur bones and other activities that they had.

Thanksgiving point also has a very cool water toy that you pull and push different levers and the water squirts out, Coly Kai LOVED this, Carter not so much.

We Have Moved Our Doorstep...

Well, it's true that we have moved and settled into our new home. We closed on 8/28/09 and it recorded and funded on 9/1/09. I promised earlier that I would post pictures before and after. Here are just a few of our home, the house is still a work in progress and I am sure more will change. I look forward to having our friends and family over.

Utah State Fair

Thursday, we went down to opening day at the state fair. Since, the kids get in free and adults were just $2 a person, we felt that was a steal of a deal. We were there in the morning and boy oh boy was Coly excited to see the "anamals." We saw all of the barn yard animals, Coly thought that was so much fun he was mooing, oinking, and baaing. He was really curious about the chickens as you can tell by the picture. Brian's stepdad entered a drawing and got first place, that was fun to see. We enjoyed a plate of fries and some time in Lego Land, before we had to leave. It was so much fun to go the the fair when it wasn't so crazy with people.

Balloon and Kite Festival

On Friday, Mom, Garry, and I took the kids up to Antelope Island for the Balloon and Kite Festival, GG also joined us for the fun. When we got there Coly said that he was hungry so we found ribbon fries and these are one long curly french fry, they were pretty darn good. Coly is scared of Mascots, but he would chase Cosway the buffalo, and as soon as she would turn around he would start running away from the buffalo. It was kind of cute. They then had an adult dance off for a ride in the hot air balloon, I tried to win but didn't. Coly on the other hand danced in the adult dance off and was unable to win the balloon ride, but was given a t-shirt for being so entertaining. Colin had so much fun dancing and running around through the great outdoors. When they were able to launch the balloons, it was close to sunset and it was beautiful. During this time, Coly rode on a train and he was in Coly heaven. He got to ride 2 times and would have stayed on the whole night had I allowed it. Audra, was a perfect angel as always she was even enjoying the time outside. It was a great adventure for the kids and I, while Brian was able to stay home and get his homework done.

Sort of like a Princess locked in a Tower...

Today started like any day. Carter came over and the two boys were running around playing with toys and watching a movie. Audra was sitting with me while I worked. At 10:30 I got up to change all the kids diapers, I was going to start with Audra. Soon, after taking her back into the kids room, the boys followed. Carter came in first and then Coly who shut the door, no big deal right. WRONG! I finished changing Audra and then Colin, I headed out to grab Carter's diapers which are in the front room and to my dismay the door is locked.
You are probably wondering how this happened, let me back up a couple of days. When we bought our condo the kids bedroom door had a doorknob that has a key lock. The first night we were here, Coly started playing with the twist part that locks the door, so Brian turned the knob around so it locks from the hall instead of the bedroom.
So back to the present, now I am locked in the bedroom with 3 kids (thank goodness all the kids were with me). I begin wondering how am I going to get us out of this, since we live on the 3rd floor. I look for anything that I can hit the doorknob with, nothing. I find a paring knife in a drawer that has not been unpacked. But it is not strong enough to take the doorknob off, I try to pop the hinges but they have been painted over and there is no way I am getting that off without real tools. I decide that my only hope of getting out of there is standing at the window waiting for someone to walk by. I can't tell you how long I stood there, waiting for someone, anyone. The first person I saw was in the business parking lot behind us, I yelled to her, but I don't know that she heard me and if she did there is a tree blocking her view. I little while later an elderly woman walking her dog in our driveway came by, I was able to get her attention.
Me: "Excuse me"
Her: "Hi?"
Me: "Hi. My son has locked us in this room, could you please call my mom?"
Her: "Sorry I don't have my cell phone, if I did I would call. If I see anyone else I will tell them you need help."
Me: "Thanks."
At this point I start to cry, what am I going to do? Guess I am waiting until Dustin gets off work and gets here to get Carter, before we are getting out of here. Audra is crying, Carter and Coly are not getting along. They both are starting to fuss. I sit down on Colin's bed were I can kind of see and nurse Audra. I turn to get the boys to be nice and when I look back there is a young guy with a Mohawk throwing his trash away. I rush to the window.
Me: "Excuse me"
Him: "Yes"
Me: "Hi we just moved here and my son has locked us in this room, do you have a cell phone and would you please call my mom."
Him: "Yes. What's her number?"
I give him the number and he calls my mom and tells her that we are locked in the room. Oh, the relief. He says that she is on her way and I thank him. I sit back and relax, now help is on the way. The kids are starting to fall asleep and finally I don't feel so stressed. A little while later, a knock on the door and then mom starts ringing the doorbell. I knock on the wall, "Mom I am locked in the back bedroom." She asks if I have the kids and I tell her yes. She asks if Brian has a key, I tell her yes but that he is in training. I tell her that Lindsey has a key and that we gave Garry a key. So, she calls Garry and finds out that the key is at her house. Then I hear "Stacy, this is Fred, I need you to look at the door"
Me: "Ok"
Fred: "Are you on the key side or the twist side?"
Me: "The side that you need a key for" ( I am thinking really, I don't think I would be in this predicament if I was on the twisty side.)
Fred:"Ok, look at the hinges are they on your side?"
Me:"Yes, but they have been painted over and I don't have anything strong enough to pop them off."
Mom: "We are going to get the key, we will be back!"

I lay down on the floor and relax, there is not much I can do at this point. I start to fall asleep when I hear someone at the door. Mom is back and she gets in to let us out. I ask what time it is and she tells me it's 1:00. We were in the room for 2 and a half hours.
Mom then tells me that she thought that Coly had locked himself in the room and we were apart and that was why she brought Fred and was knocking on the door. The best thing that happened was that all the kids were with me. My knights in shinning armor were Mom and the man with the Mohawk.
