Team Coly Kai - 2010

Friday night, at Souper Salad! we had some of team Coly Kai join us to bus the tables and ask for donations. Debby, Gar, Lindsey, Bri, Mom, and I were at the restaurant and Dustin took the kiddos so we could raise the money. We had a few family members and friends come out to dinner that night. We were not super busy and did not get a lots of sales, unfortunately. HOWEVER, we were very blessed by the people who did come to dinner. You see most people donated after hearing why we were there and why we were asking for donations. We received $88 from the sales from Souper Salad! But we were given $355.10 in donations from the people that did come out. It was interesting, we had broken the restaurant up into 3 sections and we broke into teams, one team per section, in Lindsey and Debby's section sat a couple, whom Lindsey had spoken with. It turned out that their grandson was diagnosed with food allergies (milk and eggs) and their daughter is struggling to eat, after exchanging some information, I am hoping that I can help this family learn to live well with food allergies.
Saturday, we met at Wheeler Farm for the walk, FAAN had it set up so fun. They had samples, gifts, cars and music. After, we got there and were registered, we were surprised by Hailey and Griffin. They came out to walk with us, as well as Dad, Kel, Mom, Gar, Debby, Lindsey, Carter, Colin, Audra, Brian, Sara, David, Devon and I. The kids got to do the Hokie Pokie and Chicken dance as a warm up before the walk. We had an awesome team and we feel so blessed to have so many family and friends willing to give up time and money to help us.
So, this year for our first year, Team Coly Kai did awesome! As of yesterday, when we turned in the money from Souper Salad! and last minute donations, we had raise about $1140. AWESOME! I really want to THANK everyone who supported and helped us out.
