Memorial Day Weekend

WOWZERS!!! I can't believe it has been so long since I posted last.  I know I keep trying to do better, but life...
So, this past weekend was Memorial day weekend.  It was a little crazy.  Friday night we sold "Hulk Smash," which was a bittersweet moment for Brian and the kids.  Saturday, we shopped for a car for almost 10 hours, and didn't buy a single thing.  The kids really did quite well, but they were going crazy!  Bri and I were super grateful when Grandma Debby and Grandpa Steve volunteered to stay with the kids while we shopped for a couple more hours.
Sunday, we went to church and just recovered from spending the whole day looking for cars.  Monday is when the fun began.  We found the car to buy that morning, thanks to Neeners and Grandpa Garry for helping with the kiddos.  We ended up buying another Honda, but the CR-V this time.  We are very happy with our new car.
After, we thought we would try it out and go for a hike up Big Cottonwood Canyon.  We had a great little adventure with the family hiking around Silver Lake.

Pumpkin Time

Last night for family home evening, we carved our pumpkins.  Both kids had a nice sized pumpkin that Neeners and Grandpa Garry had gotten for them.  Colin was really into it this year, he grabbed some of the guts with bare hands and basically carved his own pumpkin. Bri and I helped him a little bit, but he really did the majority of the work.  Audra, is not quite strong enough and therefore, Bri ended up carving the majority of her pumpkin.  Elyse, was a part of the fun and watched from her seat, as well as tried to climb into one, but it just didn't work out.  Now we have 2 great ghost pumpkins.

Scarecrow Fest

Neeners called and told me about the Scarecrow Fest going on.  She said it was free and that is was this weekend.  So Brian and I took the kids out to the festival.  I have to say there were so many people out there it was crazy.  The lines were 30 minutes a piece, other than the bounce houses.  Needless to say, the kids decided that they did not want to be there any more.  But we did get a few cute pictures before we left.

Fourth of July!

For the Fourth of July, we planned to go to the Murray Fun Days Parade.  Neeners and Grandpa Garry went first thing in the morning to save us a great shaded spot on the parade route.  Aunt Lindsey and Carter came too, which was exciting because they had been in Florida for 3 weeks.

After the parade we took the kids to Neeners and Grandpa's to play on the slip'n'slide again.  Then we came  home and just hung out as a family.  That evening we drove down to the dentist office and watched the Holladay City Firework display.

Mother's Day

I had the best Mother's Day this year.  It started with my cute family waking me up with breakfast in bed.  I enjoyed buckwheat pancakes, sausage and a fruit smoothie.  I then got my presents from the family.  Bri and kids gave me a prenatal massage and pedicure.  Coli gave me a drawing and Lou gave me a flower in a pot she had decorated.  It was so great.  The kids and I then got ready and went to church.  After the kids brought me more treasures.  Coli had decorated a mirror and had a new drawing.  Lynnie had a M&M game and a drawing.  I was one spoiled mommy.
After church our little family split up.  Audra and I went with my mom and Grandma to afternoon tea.  While, Brian and Colin went to Debby's house to spend time with her.  Even though it was weird to split up, it was nice not to have to rush from one house to the other.  We had tea at Beehive Tea House, which was so fun.  I have never had afternoon tea before.  The salad was good, as were the sandwiches.  But I really thought the best part was the scone and the custard with the blackberries.  We had such a nice time, we spent over 2 hours there just talking and having fun.
When we got back from our adventures, Bri and Coli were back.  Brian then made CafĂ© Rio style salads which were so yummy.  It was really the best Mother's Day.

Easter 2013

Well, this post is a little late as Brian left bright and early Monday, after Easter, for Arizona for 3 days and I had no way of posting.  We did however, have a very lovely Easter.  We had a little hunt here at our house before church, the kids found eggs in both the living room and downstairs in the toy room.  They each got a basket too.  After, we went to church while Brian went for his run.

When everyone was back together, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for Easter lunch.  It was a nice lunch with an egg hunt there too.  The kids had a really good time.

We ended the day at Neeners and Grandpa's which had an egg hunt too.  Even us big kids went on an egg hunt.  We each got a $20 from the Easter Bunny.  It was a nice surprise.  We then had a nice dinner.
We got home and had to get Brian packed for his work trip, but we really did have a nice Easter.

Christmas 2012

This year for Christmas was kind of sad.  Both kiddos were very sick!  They came out of the bedroom with less excitement then normal.  After they looked at the unwrapped toys, they laid down and opened the rest of their presents on their backs.  It was so sad to watch.  They just looked plan miserable.  I think that the nasty influenza bug got everyone.  We all got our flu shot, but 3 of the 4 of us got sick.  It wiped out the rest of our holiday break.  BOO!
Some of the things the kiddos got from everyone are as follows:
Lynnie Lou got Tinkerbell cafe from Santa, Floor Lounger from Mom & Dad, Babies from Grandma and Grandpa, A fishing pole from Papa and Bana, and a drivable truck from Neeners and Grandpa.
Bug got a fort builder from Santa, Floor lounger from Mom and Dad, Remote control guy from Grandma and Grandpa, Remote control truck from Papa and Bana, and a drivable truck from Neeners and Grandpa.
It was a nice Christmas, just not the best with the sick kiddos.

Aunt Diane's Christmas Party

This past Saturday was Aunt Diane's Christmas party.  We all love going and seeing the family, but I think the kids enjoy it the most.  They get to play with their cousins and see Santa.  This year was no exception, in fact I think they couldn't wait to go.  This year's theme was patriotic, so we were suppose to wear red, white, and blue.  Dinner was All American, with hot dogs, hamburgers and beans.
When Santa came, the kids were so excited, you should have seen Colin running to tell us that Santa was there.  It was a joy to watch all the kids.  Santa visited with all the kids and brought them each a little gift.  He also told them that Blizten and Donner? had a baby that they named Noel.  So, we have those stories to look forward to next time.
Thanks again Diane!!!
