We started our day with rain outside. We decided that we can't let the rain stop us from doing the stuff that we want to do and see. The kids and Grandpa Garry went to the beach first thing this morning, and they came back with BEAUTIFUL whole sand dollars. They thought it was so cool. After, we had breakfast downstairs at the owners meeting. Then a quick stop at the Fred Meyer to pick up some so forgotten items and we were on our way. Our first stop was Warrenton, OR. We went to see the Peter Iredale shipwreck, which has washed up on the coast here. It was very cold and windy down on the beach, but it was worth the walk to see the shipwreck. Coli and Neeners where too cold, so they stayed back, but Lou, Bri, Gar and I went down. It was quite long and impressive to see this huge boat old, washed up and rusted out.
Then we headed to Washington to Cape Disappointment. (Sad name if you ask me, but the explorer who found the area was looking for a Northwest passage.) We wanted to see the 2 different light houses on the cape. We walked down to the north one, which was built in 1898. It was a good little walk, we saw pelicans and cormorants. NO whales, dang it! They saw whales there yesterday, but because the bad weather, it was hard to see them today. Boo!
After, we went to see the other light house. We found it on the cliff and it was so beautiful. We loved what shots that we were able to get from a distance. We did not walk down to the light house though, it was getting a little late and we were getting hungry for dinner. Tonight we enjoyed a nice steak dinner back at the condo and put the kids into bed for some nice quite time for the adults.
On a side note, these pretty bushes are everywhere a long the coast here. Lynnie said to me today, "Mom, those are like lemonade." Too cute!
